2016 State of the Independent School Admission Industry SurveyThe Enrollment Management Association’s 2013 survey fueled numerous conversations and provided illuminating insight into independent school admission operations. Results shone a spotlight on the lack of admission voice in critical conversations at the board level and in both tuition and financial aid budget setting. It also identified the need for additional training in four key areas:

1.) Data and finance 2.) Marketing 3.) Leadership and 4.) Assessment.

Where are we now? What are the key challenges facing independent school admission professionals in 2016? This presentation will highlight the results of the second state-of-the-industry survey, review trends affecting the landscape, and invite discussion about what it all means for the future.

“Finders, Keepers: A How-To for Building a Strategic Marketing Plan”

A strategic admissions marketing plan is your essential roadmap for enrolling and retaining your school’s best-fit students. You may know what you need to do, but how do you articulate your needs and approach in a clear, concise and effective plan that school leaders can understand and endorse? And where do you start? During this session, John Visgilio, Principal and Co-Founder of Outthink based in Essex, and Todd Ormiston, Head of School at Mount Snow Academy in West Dover, VT, will walk you step by step through a process that helps you identify your school’s unique selling points and engage the key stakeholders who can extend the reach and influence of the admissions staff. This session is designed to bring strategic thinking into your market plan, rather than just focusing on the same old tactics. Going through this process ensures that you have ownable messaging that represents your school brand when you execute tactics.

You’ll walk away from this pragmatic, hands-on session with an overall approach and specific take-aways (including templates and a sample marketing plan) you can use to begin developing an effective admissions marketing plan to target the students you want--and free you from expensive, ineffective “wide-net” marketing.
