Patricia Peard is a member of Bernstein Shur’s Labor and Employment Practice Group and Litigation Practice Group. She is also a member of Bernstein Shur’s Board of Directors.
Pat practices in all areas of employment and labor law and counsels management in compliance issues under state and federal law, including the ADA, Title VII, and Title IX. Her practice has a special emphasis on the needs of colleges, universities, and private secondary schools. Pat has spoken extensively on these issues, including FERPA, admission policies, contract compliance, legal issues for advisors and teachers, tenure standards, bullying, and sexual harassment.
Prior to practicing law, Pat was a member of the history department at Philips Exeter Academy.
Pat’s clients include the University of Maine System, the Maine College of Art, the Maine Association of Independent Schools, several independent schools, Bath Iron Works, and UnumProvident. She served as Maine legal counsel to the Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign in 2004.
