Our presenter for the day will be Kate Stern, the director of Bowdoin College's Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity. Kate holds amaster's degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Adolescent Risk and Prevention. She has over fifteen years of experience as a teacher and trainer working on issues related to gender, sexuality, identity and social justice. In 2000, she was hired by the Boston Public Schools to create a safe schools program for LGBTQ students. Before coming to Bowdoin, she worked as a trainer with the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence, an organization in Portland, ME that trained students all over the country to stand up and speak out against bias, prejudice and violence, and also partnered with teachers and administrators to create inclusive school communities.
