John Bapst Memorial High School
John Bapst is an independent, college-preparatory school that serves 450 boys and girls in grades 9 through 12. Located in the Broadway Historical District in the attractive small city of Bangor, Maine, the school has served day students from over 40 communities since 1928 and will open its boarding and homestay programs in August 2011. With a commitment to academic excellence and a strong tradition of spirit and friendliness, the school balances commitment to community life with the recognition of individual talents. An outstanding AP program, an acclaimed instrumental and choral music program, and a winning athletic tradition are among the school's hallmarks. Since 2007, John Bapst students and faculty have won the Siemens/College Board Award for Math and Science three times. College admissions counseling is provided to every student in the school, and John Bapst alumni are currently studying at Yale, Dartmouth, Columbia, Cornell, NYU, Bowdoin, and Williams, as well as at the University of Maine and other distinguished institutions. The school's SAT averages are more than 250 points above the state’s. John Bapst is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
