Laurie Hurd is the Executive Director of ISANNE, beginning her tenure July 2014. Hurd returns to New England after four years at the Oldfields School in Maryland, where she was Director of Development. Previously, she had served as a consultant to ISANNE for four years, helping launch its ISANNELeads Program (a leadership development program for independent school senior administrators) and leading the organization’s efforts to better support female heads of school. As Head of the Hyde School in Bath, ME from 2000-2008, she was an active member of ISANNE, serving on its Board of Directors, and has chaired accreditations for the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. She has been active in independent education, serving in a number of administrative and teaching roles since 1979.
Laurie graduated from Bowdoin College with an AB in History. She lives in Phippsburg, Maine, enjoys riding her bike, spending time at Popham Beach and traveling to visit her children and family who live in California and Virginia.
