Keynote Presenters

David Greene

President, Colby College

As Colby College’s 20th president, David A. Greene has been executing an ambitious program for ensuring Colby’s place among the world’s finest liberal arts colleges. Colby, long an innovator in higher education, is distinctive in the ways it connects the liberal arts to the world. The investments underway are designed to enhance Colby’s intellectual culture, which is defined by the rigor of its academic programs and its commitment to diversity and inclusion. Current projects in support of those goals include expanding resources for and the ranks of the faculty, strategic partnerships to broaden opportunities for students, and major facilities projects to support educational and campus life programs. We are excited to welcome President Greene as our keynote speaker on Monday morning.

Rob Rosen, CM Partners

Admissions, advancement and communications professionals at independent schools constantly engage with prospective students, parents, donors or others who are considering a deeper relationship with the institution. The challenge is to make such a relationship truly compelling – but how?  A critical and necessary early step in this engagement process is developing a thorough understanding of the unique motivations and needs of each of these constituents. What are they hoping to achieve through their prospective engagement with the school?  How can the prospective relationship satisfy their core need(s)? Only with this knowledge can the independent school professional craft a compelling message that targets and satisfies the constituent’s core interests. This mini-session introduces a conversation tool, first developed by a researcher at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, which is essential in this process of learning others’ core interests. Through a combination of presentation, interactive exercises and independent school applications, participants will gain experience using this tool so that, at the end of our time together, they will be comfortable bringing it into their daily practice. We are excited to welcome Rob and his team for this hands on, interactive workshop on Tuesday morning.

Bring your entire Advancement, Admissions, Marketing & Communications teams to the beautiful mountain setting offered by the Mt. Washington Hotel and tackle the challenges facing all of us today. Please check back in the coming weeks for more detailed breakout session descriptions and an updated participant registration list.

Please make every effort to attend and invite board members and other professionals at your school who could benefit from the program.
