ISANNE Fall Heads Conference
ISANNE Fall 2018 Heads Conference
"Developing Leaders and Fostering Culture in Our Schools"
Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel - Portsmouth, NH
November 8-9, 2018
Please join us for the 2018 Fall Heads Conference!
This fall’s conference is being held at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Join us at this essential gathering of colleagues with time to discuss issues of importance, re-energize and share resources that you can take back to your schools.
Our conference theme this fall is “Developing Leaders and Fostering Culture in our Schools”.
Thursday we will welcome our New Heads for a Luncheon at 11:45 am – 1:00 pm.
Our two afternoon topics include our lead session on “Establishing the Framework: What is our School Culture?” There will be a pre-read for this session: The Culture Code: Secrets of Highly Successful Groups by Daniel Coyle (Link to Purchase - or Executive Summary). The book The Culture Code examines the dynamics of groups, large and small, formal and informal, to help you understand how great teams work and what you can do improve your relationships wherever you cooperate with others.
This will be followed by a session titled “Understanding and Working with the Millennial Culture Beyond Labels and Misconceptions” facilitated by Joe Williams, Head of School at New Hampton School. Each generation alters the culture with their personal and professional expectations. How are we adjusting to the expectations of the Millennials within our employee, parent and alumni ranks? One school begins the session by offering their experience. Round Table discussions will continue as schools share ideas, challenges and practices in working with Millennials.
Friday morning will begin with our ISANNE Business Meeting for Heads of School. Following the Business meeting we would like to invite other school leaders to add to the morning conversations.
First we will welcome Tim Maki, Technology Director at Tilton School to discuss “The Solution Room: Responding to Culture Shifts in Our School”. Followed by a panel discussion, “Developing Leaders in our Schools” where we will be joined by administrative leaders from Derryfield School, Maple Street School, Berwick Academy and The Sharon Academy. Healthy school cultures are nurtured by leaders in the various constituencies of our communities. How are we cultivating these leaders and ensuring their growth and motivation? In this session, three schools begin the conversation with their top professional development examples followed by Round Table discussions among heads and administrative leaders sharing experiences and ideas about strong PD components.
The conference will conclude around 12 noon on Friday. Please join us!
