Dr. Jernstedt is Professor Emeritus of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Dartmouth College, Adjunct Professor Emeritus of Community and Family Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and Director Emeritus of the Center for Educational Outcomes at Dartmouth. He specializes in human learning and speaks internationally translating the complex findings from the cognitive, social, behavioral, and educational neurosciences. Read more below.

G. Christian Jernstedt
Chris Jernstedt is Professor Emeritus of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Dartmouth College, Adjunct Professor Emeritus of Community and Family Medicine at The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and Director Emeritus of the Center for Educational Outcomes at Dartmouth.
Chris specializes in human learning from the viewpoint of translational neuroscience. His research is in the area of learning as it occurs both in formal classroom settings and in natural environments, and is directed towards understanding the breadth of learning, including its cognitive, behavioral, and affective aspects. He examines what leads to learning, what happens during learning, and what outcomes emerge from learning experiences. He has written over 100 articles, reports, and papers.
Chris has received national recognition for his teaching and has received both of Dartmouth’s awards for distinguished teaching and Dartmouth’s award for career achievement in teaching and scholarship. His research has received broad media coverage, including on the Discovery Channel Canada, in Wired Magazine, and in the New York Times.
As a consultant, Chris advises many different organizations: corporations, state and city governments, healthcare organizations, public school systems and universities, and independent schools. He has co-founded three startup companies at Dartmouth’s entrepreneurial incubator to bring translational neuroscience to the improvement of learning and education for educational and other organizations. Chris offers seminars and lectures around the world on the neuroscience of learning and teaching and the potentials of the human mind.
