Assistant Director of Development and Alumnae/i
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated fundraiser to become part of a close-knit, creative advancement team that supports a small, independent school community with a long tradition of educational excellence and set in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire.
Reporting to the Director of Development & Alumnae/i, the Assistant Director will be involved with all phases of alumnae/i and development work to achieve constituent engagement and annual fundraising goals. The Assistant Director will serve as liaison to alumnae/i, parents and other constituencies through planning and executing events, preparing written and social media communications, and creating opportunities for increased constituent involvement and financial support. The selected candidate will also manage a donor portfolio, including planning and implementing engagement, fundraising and stewardship strategies for assigned prospects. Some weekend work and travel will be required. This is a full-time, twelve-month position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the planning and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program (Annual Fund, Major Gifts, Campaign, Events) to solicit all members of the School community;
- Assist with the development and implementation of programming which will strengthen the School’s relationship with alumnae/i, current parents and extended community, including on- and off-campus events;
- Write and edit for communications for fundraising and alumnae/i programs including solicitation letters, acknowledgement letters, donor briefs, newsletter and magazine;
- Identify, cultivate, solicit and maintain relationships with donors and volunteers through personal meetings on and off campus;
- Create content and drive social media including Facebook, Instagram and other Development platforms;
- Participate fully in the life of the School including attending special events, School functions, and other activities.
- Experience that includes both direct response and face-to-face strategies;
- Previous experience at an independent school or in higher education preferred;
- Proven ability to meet and exceed ambitious fundraising goals;
- Knowledge and management of social media platforms;
- Excellent administrative, organizational and time management skills;
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral;
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
- Ability to effectively manage a demanding workload, multiple projects and competing priorities; possess strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and an ability to work well under pressure;
- Ability to think creatively and strategically;
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, GMail and Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge;
- Experience with boarding school preferred;
- A passion for the education of young people.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Five or more years experience in development or a related field is preferred;
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
- The ability to travel to meetings
- The ability to work a variety of hours including evenings and weekends
- The ability to lift and move packages and objects weighing twenty-five pounds
