Cardigan Mountain School
Cardigan Mountain School is an independent boarding school for boys in Grades 6 through 9 that combine a family atmosphere and a challenging yet highly supportive program. Our objective is to assist each youngster in reaching toward his true potential -- academically, physically, socially and spiritually. The curriculum is traditional, with a multi-track approach in each discipline that allows for both enrichment in areas of strength and support in areas of weakness. In addition to the four major subjects, courses are available in Latin, Spanish, French, Computers, Life Skills, Art, Woodshop, Music (including private lessons) and Religion. All students take a course in Reading and Study Skills, while tutorials are available in Math and reading/writing skills. Almost all faculty members live on campus, and more than half of them hold advanced degrees. The school offers outstanding extra-curricular activities, including theatre, interscholastic teams in 15 sports, rock climbing/wilderness opportunities, sailing and an extensive club program. Facilities on the 500-acre campus include a large library/theatre/classroom complex, a lighted ski hill, indoor ice hockey rink, 5 miles of cross-country ski trails, 4 outdoor tennis courts and 5 athletic fields. Students attend various events at Dartmouth College(25 minutes away), and there are trips to nearby ski areas every winter weekend. Graduates enter leading preparatory schools around the country. Cardigan also offers a co-educational Summer Session for grades 4-8, featuring academic review, enrichment and summer camp fun.
